The Extra Life gives the user an extra life. This item will appear in Serious Sam 2 no matter what version or game mode is being played. In Serious Sam HD and Serious Sam 3: BFE, Extra Lives will only appear when the Coin-Op Co-Op game mode is being played, as it gives players a pool of limited lives to use.
In all three games, the Extra Life is a floating model or statue of Sam. However, the Serious Sam 3: BFE incarnation is designed to look more like a statue than the previous models, as it has a metal was with Serious Sam's logo on it.
The Extra Life is very rare in every game it appears in. All of them are hidden in secrets.
In the Xbox version of Serious Sam and Serious Sam 2, these items are valuable because those games run on limited life systems. While getting lives through points is easy in them, getting an extra life or two is always handy, especially when preparing for or in one of the harder levels.
They are extremely useful in Coin-Op Co-Op, as it gives the team an extra life. Considering how difficult Co-op can be with limited lives, getting an Extra Life or two can be very helpful.
In the PC version of Serious Sam 2, Extra Lives are worthless because the player can save at anytime. There's no need to rely on the life system because the player can save at any moment, so there’s no need to go Extra Life hunting.
