"Woah, you could be your own planet. You'd have to hold your pants up with an asteroid belt."
Sam mocking Prince Chan[src]

Prince Chan is the boss of the planet Chi-Fang, and the third boss of Serious Sam 2.

Overview[]

Chan is a very large, fat humanoid creature albeit looking like a sumo. He has a tattoo on his lower back and one on his right breast that looks like a blue lollipop with white swirls. He also has elf like ears, sharp teeth and clawed stubby feet.

Appearances[]

Serious Sam 2[]

He is first introduced in a cutscene that involves him standing on a large stage surrounded by the denizens of the area. It appears that it is his birthday and likes to have attention on this day but since no one paid much attention, he has three citizens in a cauldron next to him. He picks up a female citizen out of the cauldron and eats her effectively, gaining the audience in his favor, but then Sam interrupts this scene and yet again another mini-fight cutscene occurs after the scene the prince flies away on a small orange balloon laughing at Sam. He is finally met at his palace in which a cutscene occurs with an argument involving a lollipop, after which the actual fight begins.

Once defeated, he dies in a cutscene involving him glowing blue and cracks appear on his body, while the souls of victims he consumed orbit around him. He then explodes and a piece of the Medallion is gained.

Behavior and skills[]

Prince Chan's two main attacks involve a powerful burping attack, and slapping the player if they get too close. His burping attack can deal heavy damage, while his slap attack deals slightly less damage.

Chan has very sensitive hearing, which the player can use to their advantage during the boss fight by banging the Holy Gong positioned directly above him.

Like other bosses in the game, he has very high health points, so it requires heavy firepower to defeat him.

Tactics[]

  • All the player really has to do is bang the Holy Gong directly above Chan by shooting it with any weapon (preferably the Auto Shotgun, Colt Anaconda, or Uzi) to damage his sensitive hearing. This will deal great damage to him and can be done even after he steps outside of the temple to directly confront the player.
    • With skill and fast enough reflexes, the player can bang the Holy Gong twice in a row, but this won't work once Chan is brought down to half of his health, after which he leaves the temple. After that, though, the Holy Gong can still be shot to damage him.
  • It is very important to deal with the enemies that spawn during the fight, especially the highly dangerous Clowns and Rhino Cybertoys, as otherwise the player will be too overwhelmed and die quickly.
  • If the player has Serious Bombs available, they can use them to wipe out any surrounding enemies if they are overwhelmed.
  • Normal weapons are not very effective against Prince Chan due to his high HP.
  • Once he steps outside, the player can use the SBC Cannon to damage him. Alternatively, they can use RB-45 Hand Grenades or the XPML30 Rocket Launcher if they are out of cannonballs.
    • A Serious Damage powerup will also spawn, which makes it easier to damage Prince Chan with any weapon.

Behind the scenes[]

  • An early version of Prince Chan had a slightly different model with a more monstrous-like head and no tattoo on his chest.
