The Geyser Golem (Water Elemental) is an enemy cut from Serious Sam: The First Encounter. It is a functioning enemy in Serious Sam Classics: Revolution.

Overview[]

The Geyser Golem is a water-based enemy that throws explosive plasma balls at the player. Like the Lava Golem, it comes in three sizes; small, medium and large. Should the target get too close to a Geyser Golem, it will pound the ground, dealing massive damage to them.

The Geyser Golem appeared in the scrapped Water Planet levels. It would later appear in the Serious Sam Classics: Revolution special campaign Bright Island, appearing from the start of Ruins of the Abyss onwards, where it is a common enemy and is encountered as soon as the player obtains the CDF-ST-005 Plasmathrower. A large one appears as the first one of the five final bosses in the final level The Steps of Despair. In co-op, the Geyser Golem can appear in The First Encounter and The Second Encounter campaigns if the mutator replacing enemies with new types is enabled. Because of this, it is possible that a large Geyser Golem may appear as a boss in either Alley of the Sphinxes or The Grand Cathedral.

Geyser Golems, being water-based enemies, can be found in bodies of water along with Reeban Electro-Fishes.

Tactics[]

  • The same tactics for fighting Lava Golems apply to Geyser Golems. However, despite having lower health, Geyser Golems' plasma balls are much more damaging in comparison to the lava rocks thrown by Lava Golems, so dodging them is more important as the plasma balls can't be destroyed with gunfire either. They are still easy to dodge, though, with constant strafing.
  • Small Geyser Golems are generally the easiest to kill. Just one blast from the 12 Gauge Pump-Action Shotgun or Double Barrel Coach Gun is enough to eliminate one.
  • Medium Geyser Golems are somewhat tougher than small Geyser Golems, as their projectiles are harder to avoid at close range and they spawn smaller ones upon death.
  • Getting close to a Geyser Golem is not recommended as it can deal massive damage with its melee attack. Medium Geyser Golems can deal up to a massive and potentially fatal 75 base damage to the player with the melee if they are in point blank range of the Golem.
  • Medium and large Geyser Golems throw projectiles at a smaller trajectory than Lava Golems, which makes them easier to avoid. In fact, if the player is too far away, medium and large Geyser Golems' projectiles won't be able to reach the player.
    • On the other hand, the plasma balls thrown by small Geyser Golems are faster, which will require the player to be quick in avoiding them, as they can still deal a lot of damage.
  • Strong weapons like the Plasmathrower, XM214-A Minigun, XPML21 Rocket Launcher, MK III Grenade Launcher, and SBC Cannon are useful against large groups of Geyser Golems. The cannon can do massive damage to medium and large Geyser Golems, while the grenade launcher is especially deadly towards groups of small Geyser Golems.
  • Unless the player has Serious Damage active, medium Geyser Golems are extremely resistant to RAPTOR Sniper Rifle rounds, so it's not recommended to use that weapon on them as the player will simply waste ammo anyway.
  • In general, Geyser Golems are medium-priority or even low-priority targets if they are far away as their plasma balls can easily be evaded and they have lower health than Lava Golems, leaving them vulnerable to two alternate fire blasts from the Plasmathrower or a short volley of rounds from the XL2 Lasergun. If they are close to the player, the Geyser Golems should be destroyed first due to the immense amount of damage their plasma balls and melee attacks can deal. There are still more immediate threats like Reeban Electro-Fishes if the player is underwater.

Fate[]

  • The Water Elemental's projectile was left in the final game, complete with code and a model.

Trivia[]

  • The Geyser Golem's plasma balls are directly imported from the Exotech Larva.
